Thank you for joining us to learn more about the Carolina Crossroads I-20/26/126 Corridor Project. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an overview of the project and the upcoming Environmental Impact Statement process.
How To Navigate Through This Meeting:
The Federal Highway Administration National Environmental Policy Act process allows transportation officials to make project decisions that balance engineering and transportation needs with social, economic, and natural environmental factors.
You can learn more about NEPA by clicking on this link to FHWA’s NEPA website.
An EIS begins with the Notice of Intent which is a formal announcement that the EIS is underway. It initiates a process called scoping that includes public and agency input.
The Draft EIS provides a detailed description of what is being proposed and presents analysis of anticipated beneficial and adverse environmental affects of the alternatives.
The Final EIS addresses comments made by the public and agencies on the Draft EIS and identifies a preferred alternative.
The Record of Decision presents the basis for the decision, identifies all the alternatives considered, specifies the "environmentally preferable alternative," and provides information on the adopted means to avoid, minimize and compensate for environmental impacts.
